#163 ‘Reconnect Not Revenge Travel’: Jyoti M, President, Travel Agents Association of India

What are some of the emerging trends for travel within and outside India? For Indians, the ambitions seem to be sky-high. 86% of Indian travelers plan to take the same number, if not more, trips abroad in 2024 compared to 2023, according to a Sky Scanner report.

While making a point about the resurgence of travel during the pandemic, Jyoti Mayl, President of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), says she could never associate travel with revenge. And would like to replace the terminology “revenge travel” with “reconnect travel.” She says in 2023, sustainable tourism was on people’s minds. The way we travel has altered significantly with ‘experiential travel’ coming in a big way coupled with wellness retreats and longer stays. Tourists are also turning toward AI tools to guide them in spotting holiday destinations, planning activities, and drafting itineraries to make the most of their stay.

Jyoti Mayal, the erstwhile Director of New Airways Travels, was elected as the President of the Travel Agents Association of India for the period 2019-2021.
